Disturbia

Man, if there were ever a video that didn't match a song, it's Disturbia. The video looks like it was shot for a Marilyn Manson song and then switched to a Rihanna dance ditty at the last second. Ugh. I'm going to pretend I never watched that...

i actually really like the video and song. it's interesting to see the fetish/bdsm stuff coming from the hip-hop world, but you might recall the naughty ballerina that rihanna was in her umbrella video. it's not uncalled for with her.

It's not that I object to fetish/bdsm stuff in general. It's that I think the particular way in which they approached it was a horrible mismatch with the song, undoubtedly because it was undertaken not for any artistic reasons but as a stupid plug for the damn movie. It really was like someone saw a Marilyn Manson video and then said, "Oooh! Let's do that." It's not innovative, and it's not well thought out.

There was a way to do a fetish/bdsm theme for the video to that song, but that wasn't it.

Are you sure it's a tie-in with the movie?

Huh. Looks like you're right, which is surprising because the movie is a thriller, so I assumed there was a tie-in.

Alright, so it's not as much of a marketeering charade as I thought, but I still think it's a poor execution on a theme. :)
